Hollywood says “Meh” to Child Rapist

Predator Press

It shouldn’t have come as any surprise.

-Hollywood is an environment that thrives on the publicity of bad behavior in general. The punishment usually takes the form of court-ordered callow televised Public Service Announcements like “Don’t Do Drugs” or whatever –only increasing the individual's Exposure.

But isn't capital "E" Exposure the blood and oil of the so-called entertainment industry today anyway? It seems to me -by logical extension- we are actually paying people to be interesting travesties.

Ironic.

Jillian Michaels –of “Biggest Loser” fame- has given me my favorite quote so far [linked here] in regard to the Roman Polanski arrest: ”I think it’s up to the girl, frankly. I think that if she, you know, if she’s okay with it, and she feels that they’re resolved, then who are we to say? But if the victim has issues, then I feel she should have retribution.”

Well with heavy heart, Jillian Michaels is officially stricken from my list of potential babysitters.

When I was 13, I was a little too preoccupied with comic books and Star Wars memorabilia to worry about getting drugged and raped by and ragingly successful 44 year old movie director -not to mention all the life-altering publicity that would forever haunt me when the perpetrator skipped to another country to make more great movies.

Still, I suppose it is true that while he eluded the law for over a quarter of a century, I should have resolved most -if not all- of whatever Jillian Michaels defines as "issues" by then.

So we should be "cool."

Right, Jillian?

If you watch the video [linked again here], Jillian Michaels will go on to say "If somebody would have drugged and raped my thirteen year old, I'd shoot 'em!"

I guess the lesson here is it’s fine to drug and rape pre-pubescent children as long as they are not related to anyone. And if you've found a way to make the victim “okay” with it over the numerous years you've illegally postponed your apprehension, more power to you.

It seems in retrospect Woody Allen wasn't such a bad guy after all: he -like many other martyrs throughout history 'ahead of their time'- was only misunderstood. As a vanguard for this “New Millennium” morality, he was among the first victims of our already woefully antiquated views, and in modern folklore he’ll be remembered as a Da Vinci-like visionary.

Who could've guessed we would one day owe him an apology?

For a long time, I wasn't paying attention to this because I didn't know the history or who Roman Polanski was or why I would care.

Now, I'm just sickened.

And the argument that the judge threw out the plea bargaining deal - the can do that and always could. It doesn't change the admission of guilt or make it OK to walk.

I'm trying to understand how anyone could justify this.

And what's with Whoopi Goldberg saying "it wasn't 'rape' rape"? She was THIRTEEN!

With a blog named "Predator Press" I wouldn't normally touch a topic like this with a ten foot pole.

But these celebs squirming and mincing around this Polanski issue is one of the most revolting things I've ever seen. How many sides of their mouths do they have to talk out of?

HALLLOOOOO? Child molesting rapist? Is this thing on?

I guess souls are a little cheaper to come by nowadays.

Maybe celebs with no moral compass should simply stick to dancing for us like they get paid to, and shut the **** up.

Juan Williams of Fox News summed it all up for me last night on Hannity. Without saying outright that it's up to the victim if Polanski should be forgiven or not he answered the question, "What would you do if it had been your daughter?" His answer, and I quote, "I'd kill his ass!"
Jillian Michaels is a man. . . with crappy ethics and a strong, masculine jawline.

Jillian Michaels can forgive a child molester but want to beat the hell out of someone for eating a cupcake...what planet is she on?

Don: There has been a seemingly-small backlash to this "lack of posture" posturing ... I read it on CNN somewhere. But if I thought it was of satisfactory intensity and persuasiveness, I would've cited in here in the comments somewhere.

-I felt it was kinda milquetoast actually.

DG: Hah! I love how the second Jillian Michaels and Lisa Kudrow get hit with that question, they’re thinking so hard big, bulgy veins emerge in their foreheads. And if you watch the eyes, Kudrow knows instantly she’s in trouble -Jillian lets her yap run for a little while before realizing how deep she’s in, and does this weird "reverse gears" thing.

Mars: Again, the eyes -Jillian looks like she might just bite you at any given second.

Kudos to CNN for courageously getting a microphone that close!

If Polanski was just an ordinary person there would be no debate. I guess celebs struggle with it because he is a legendary film director. In the end it comes down what he is accused of, not who he is.

I agree. All this pansy crap is Hollywood people afraid to speak out against a well-respected artisan of their craft.

That makes 'em cowards, hypocrites and co-conspirators.

Which begs the hypothetical question:

Given the choice, would you rather be raped by:

a) Polanki, or
b) these soulless slobs?
Listening to the Polanski and the McKenzie Phillips thing why we even give these people any air time at all they're pedophiles and should be shot, locked up or castrated..not necessarily in that order..

I read somewhere, a few years ago, that the victim of Polanski actually tried to help end the mess by saying that she had forgiven him and it was time to move on, or something like that. I'm glad she can forgive him and I hope she wasn't too messed up because of it. I don't know her story. She really is immaterial at this point. He committed a crime, was caught, and fled at the first opportunity. He has gotten off easy. On the other hand, and this is no excuse, the man got screwed 8 years earlier when his wife and unborn child were murdered by Manson. Not an excuse but that will mess a person up.

The man ran away from his crime for years, that should tell you something about what he did and his character as a human being. Moving one and forgiving is important and healing, but also one has to take accountability for one's actions.

This post isn't funny. Where's the funny? ;) Actually, I agree with you, and somebody needed to say it, even if it was a humor blogger. Good for you for standing up to Hollywood.

Sadly, it appears that "Stars" in Hollywood have a completely separate set of rules and laws to govern themselves. They literally get away with Murder, Rape, drug possession, incest, DUI, cheating, and theft.

I for one would love to see Polanski dragged to jail, and take all of his assets he acquired over the past thirty years and have that money donated to child abuse, rape victims, charities.
